Research Interests: Little is known about process-related impurity retention and clearance in manufacturing processes for recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV). The presence of host cell proteins (HCPs) across the downstream process and in the final drug substance can impact product stability, potency, and potentially contribute to immunogenic reactions in patients. In our research, residual HCP retention mechanisms are examined across different rAAV serotypes and purification methods with the goal of informing process designs to achieve improved product purity, overall contributing to safer, more potent gene therapies for patients.
