Research Area:

Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are the most commonly used host cell for industrial-scale manufacturing of therapeutic proteins. Recent literature suggests that some host cell proteases can degrade the product during cell culture, as well as formulation because they can persist through downstream purification process. Our goal is to improve therapeutic protein production economic, stability and patient safety through cell line engineering and control of cell culture variables that impact expression and activity of proteolytic enzymes.
