Synthetic biology is the design and application of novel genetic tools across platforms. Our group leverages numerous techniques inspired by synthetic biology to improve production of biopharmaceuticals.
Examples of these techniques in our work include:
-Engineering of “landing pads” inserted by site-specific integration to study therapeutic protein expression
-Designing inducible gene circuits for control of viral vector production
-Developing novel tools for enhanced genomic editing capabilities in mammalian cells using CRISPR-Cas9 and prime editing
